if my amp is rated at 4 ohms and i put 2 Ohms Subwoofer to it. what would happen?
i have a kenwood 1000 watt 2 channel amp and 4 Ohm Dvc wired to 2 ohms. will the amp heat up and blow or what would exactly happen?
i have a kenwood kac929
If you wire the sub to 2 ohms and try to run it off a 4ohm stable amplifier (I assume your bridging the 2 channel amp), you WILL run the amp into protect mode because of thermal issues.
A much better/safer alternative would be to wire the sub-woofer voice coils in series rather than parallel to create a final load of 8ohms instead of 2ohms. You wont be using the "full potential" of the amplifier but it sure beats breaking the amp.
Some bass > no bass + broken amp
