how can you tell if xenon hid kit you're looking at are authentic?

are there materials on the fake kinds noticeable to the authentic kinds?

1) The year (only 2002 and newer cars were offered with factory HIDs)
2) The color (almost all factory HID headlights burn white, while aftermarket are often blue, yellow, or even purple)
3) The wiring to the headlights (factory HID units have a very distinct compact look)

For example, if you have a 1997 Acura Integra that has HID's, that ain't stock. Odds are if the kit is good enough you won't be able to tell, but aftermarket kits that good are rare--so buyer beware.
