Which german-made car is the best in terms of quality,comfort, and performance?
I have owned a Mercedes 300E
a Porsche 911, Boxster, 928, 993 and others plus
I know own a BMW 330i
Your question is not one easily to be answered - because it depends on what you want the car for.
In a 1979 911 SC - we took 4 from NYC to Florida -- and believe it or not - we were very comfortable.
I loved my Mercedes - but as it became 12 years old -- it started costing me a small fortune each month.
I now enjoy the drive of the BMW - it's a 4 door and handles well, let me put it like this - I brought it in for service recently - and it took 3 days to get it back. I called for it and found out they refilled the gas tank for me - thanked and told me they've never had a 330 there that was that smooth. They loved the setup it was given.
What kind of driver are you? Do you like sports cars? I found I didn't care for the 911 and really enjoyed driving a Boxster. (I felt I was one with it - and loved the visibility I had...)
Each of the three I mention have their pros and negatives. I'm witih BMW because they will take care of all the service (oil changes, rotors, etc.) until January 2009.
My suggestion - take each one out for a real test drive. See if your dealers will let you try it for a weekend. Then decide which fits your driving.
Me - I loved the Boxster - but I had to be practical - and go for the 4-door grocery getter.
But all of these handle much better than a, ahem, Jaguar LOL
