Sub Enclosure
What is the proper air space for my 10" sub enclosure?
I have a 10" Alpine Type R model # SWR-1042D with 500RMS any suggestions on the size of the enclosure I should make, and I know it makes a difference but any preference on vented or sealed?
You can check the Alpine website in the future, but here we are.
You need:
Sealed box volume: 0.5-0.8
Ported box volume: 0.6-1.25
I'd go with a sealed box for the 10".
I have one for bow my 10's it makes more of a SLAM, the ported is more of a open sounding bass. Less loud and takes more room.
Go with the mid of the enclosure size given.
Lets say, about 0.65 volume.
If you use a perfect rectangle box, make it, 14.5 inches high, 12 inches width, 10 inches deep.
This gives you 0.67. This is with 3/4 inch MDF wood measuring the outside.
