Subwoofer Amplifier
Is this amplifier too powerful for this subwoofer?
So I bought a RF T2D412 (subwoofer) and a RF T2500-1bdCP (amplifier) with orgionally planning to use 2 T2s but decided not to buy the second one right away at the end. How can I make it so that pushing 2500 RMS to a 1200 RMS subwoofer won't blow it? Can I turn down max output of the amplifier?

ok, you dont need to wire the sub at 8 ohms. you cant even do that unless its a 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil. but heres my input, the amp probably isnt really pushing what it says, its rare that an amp does. the way to find out true wattage is to see what the amp is fused at and multiply it by the volts your car runs. typically a car has 12 to 14 volts so add up your fuse levels on the amo and multiply it by 14 and thats the most watts it'll ever push, but that's it bein turned up all the way running at 100% proficiency which an amp will almost never do. also you can just set your gain and bass boost at low levels so it wont push too much power to the sub. by the way a way you'll know if your sub is being overpowered because it will make a very distinct burning smell and if you leave it up it will FRRRRY. hope all that helps
