Need a good SUV for harsh alaska roads?

I'm looking for a new vehicle, I need something with 4-wheel drive and something thats tough enough to survive alaska...i was thinking maybe a jeep cherikee or a honda crv or maybe a Ford Explorer. what is the best SUV for icy roads? it has to be able to start in extreme sub zero temps too.
yeah roads arent THAT bad in town...but when you live in the hills things get slick, i have front wheel drive right now and theres times i cant get out of my driveway....so much for that theory
