Watt Red

December 30th, 2010 admin No comments

Getting a crested Gecko, and need to know how much heat a 15, 25, 60, 100, and 150 watt red heat bulb produce.?

I've always had a fascination with reptiles i will house him/her in a 38 or 65 gallon reptarium

Have you researched Crested Geckos at all?

Crested Geckos like temps of 70-80 during the day and 65-75 at night, which is average room temperature - meaning that unless your house is extra cold then you have no reason to get a heat bulb. Even if your house is cold there's no reason you'd need over a 60 watt bulb. Never ever go above 85 degrees.

38 or 65 gallon tank size is unnecessarily large. A pair of Crested Geckos could live very comfortably in a 20 gallon tank, and would be very spacey for one, so I see no reason for you to use such a large cage.

Last point, reptariums are screen all around, making it very difficult to maintain humidity. Crested Geckos like humidity of 50-60% during the day and 70-80% at night and unless you live in an extremely humid area you will have a very difficult time keeping the humidity.

Please research Crested Gecko care a little more:
