Is this a home surround system to be "OK" without a subwoofer? Or is this something important?

Subwoofers are designed to carry the lower frequencies - like all bearings you hear in the cinema. The main reason for having a subwoofer is due to most home theater surround sound systems do not have speakers wide for the rest of the channels. If your two main speakers (left and right front channels) are large - 10 inch woofers or more then I would say a great subwoofer is not an absolute necessity. However, if your two main speakers are the 4-5 inch variety, then a box Bass would make things a lot healthier. Having said all that I must add that if you're OK with the sound without a subwoofer, so that's all that matters really, if the decision is all yours and your ears.
