Top Vented
Food Dehydratation - I need to know about the vents on top.?
I just got a used Ronco Food Dehydrator and am trying my first batch of dried apples. I've read the entire booklet and cannot find any information about the top that has vents in it. Do I open or close them? And what about dehydrating other food items...how do I know if they go closed or opened?
my parents use one for all sorts of stuff, like jerky. you have to have vents so the moisture can escape and dry air can circulate. I think the machine pumps dry air around your food and it liquid coming out of things like meat or fruit have to evaporate. As far as I know my folks have always left the vents open. I think it makes it dry faster.
